“This is SportsCenter” commercial of the week: Security

Mondays are always tough to deal with, especially as an Indianapolis Colts fan this morning.

So to spirit away some of that new week malaise, I’ll be digging deep into the outer reaches of YouTube for yesteryear’s best entries in the most important sports marketing campaign the Western world has ever known: the two-decade behemoth “This is SportsCenter”.

Today’s entry is one of the underrated ones to come out of the mid-90s halcyon days. Karl Ravech, in his pre-Baseball Tonight days, intros this spot featuring then feared enforcer Rob Ray, well, enforcing the rules of the Bristol campus. Ray’s dropping of the gloves is a bit forced, but as a proponent of rendering hockey justice outside the hockey world, I’m ok with it.
